"Strive for emotion - I hope some of the love I have for the coast comes through". Vivien, it really does. On the back of the artwork she explains how she's re-worked a previous lino print... I won't say any more as she explains it all.
Vivien has a great sense of composition, arranging these slices on the pages. For the time being I'm not thinking about what I'll do to follow, I just want to spend a little time looking through everyone else's work and absorbing the journey. And I probably won't get to see what follows after I send this on, except seeing photos online. It's a shame because I love to fondle these Moleys; sometimes I sit and open them gradually, so that I can only view a small section at a time. Other times I'll lay them flat on the carpet and let my eyes wander.

ohohoh... how did you do these, vivien? i remember you mentioning the embossing in your own blog - could you explain again? emboss first, then draw/paint? with what?
Steph and Vivien... I wondered: in terms of changing order. I've got Lindsay's moley but wondered if Steph, I could send it to you before I work on it, you then to Vivien and Vivien to me and then I would do something with it? Bit stumped for ideas and I'd love to see some more of your twos work ;)
Yeah Gesa, that'd be fine. I have the Dance one to work in, and actually that's got me stumped. I also have the stretch one which I'll probably work in next week. So yeah, Lindsey's Maps and destinations, following of from Crazy man David would be great.
oh... if you've got two already at the moment... i could send it on to vivien, then you, then me?
so many possibilities ;)
mixing up a bit is a great idea - maybe Casey could forward the ones he has and we can post them back to him later when he feels better to complete? He did suggest it but I don't think any of us answered him.
I wouldn't mind one or two Casey?
The embossing is from a failed lino print done 'blind' on damp paper with no ink,
It was of trees - part of the same series as the collagraph earlier.
I'm not good with lino and it languished in the new plan chest.
Cutting it up, changing it's orientation and making it sea/sand instead of bark and using cp's on it made it work :>)
This looks great, Vivien - I love the color and sense of texture and pattern. Looking forward to seeing it all in person!
Nice panorama of the whole book, Steph. If we're able to exhibit the books all together in Ulster it would be great to see each of them laid out in this way.
Oh and it was an intaglio lino - with foam in the printing press to push the paper into the cut away parts. I can't remember if I made that clear.
I want a book to work on!!!!
Yes, anyone can send me one who is overwhelmed.
Ok, Vivien... Lindsay's M&D will be on it's way to you :) Just need to post it...
Sniff sniff....I'm missing a book. Can someone send me one????
Casey if you send me one or two, I'll pass them back to you???
Vivien,I can hardly wait to see this in person. Such a different approach! Exciting.
Long stretches of unpopulated coastline - beats being at the mall!
Good stuff Vivien.
exactly David! and I'm just back from a week in Cornwall :>) it was so gorgeous - we stayed at Sennen Cove (I lived further north in Cornwall, near Trevose Head as a child so this was less known to me)
Wild moorland, standing stones, quoits, stone rings, old tin mines, lonely beaches, tiny harbours, wild surf, ever changing colours ............ heaven!
thank you everyone :>)
I've got Lindsay's book - thank you :>) and now to think what to do ..... mmmm I have an idea ....
