Good morning from Steph

genesis ideas
exploding MoleskineI've been making some preparatory sketches on the theme of Genesis for my book.

As I'll be the first one drawing in it I'm collecting images I associate with the creation, the first thing which happens in the Book of Genesis. They range from single cells under the microscope to huge solar systems, complex diagrams of eyeballs and cross-sections of fruit. So far everything is coming out circle shaped for some reason.

Be careful with your Japanese Moleys, guys. They can spring out when you open them up, and remind me of magic books with lives of their own. How easy they'll be to use when drawing plein air I'm not so sure. Also, seeing mine open all the way makes me think how these things will transform from beginning to end, like chinese whispers. Way to narrow the focus, Steph! The origin of everything!

Ha ha. I love your theme and can't wait to see it for real.

Well, I don't know what to say Casey. I thought I was being quite prescriptive, but when you put it like that, it's wide open I suppose. Mmmm. Funny how things turn out. Good news too, as David Cornelius has agreed to join. I'm just waiting on an address from Ed then I'm done.

I love, love, love your theme, Steph.

I can't wait to get it in the mail. In fact, I feel a challenge to be as thematic.

I really love David's free and loose pastel on-sites. I wonder is Brian is having a hard time with Blogger?

There have been some weird and wonderful themes on the flickr exchanges. One lady wants everyone to include a drawing of their home or front door, another chose Nude Art, Deer (yup, fawns, reindeer, antlers etc) Alice in Wonderland, Diaries, and anything that can fly. That list may serv to hinder rather than help you though.
